Time Stamped Show Notes:
03:28 – Mark Zuckerberg statement
- One of our big focus areas for 2018 is making sure the time we all spend on Facebook is time well spent.
- We built Facebook to help people stay connected and bring us closer, that’s why we always put friends and family at the core of the experience.
- Research shows that strengthening our relationships improves our well-being and happiness.
- But, recently they’ve gotten feedback from our community that public content from businesses brands and media is crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other
- It’s easy to understand how we got there video and other public content have exploded on Facebook in the past couple of years since there’s more public content than those from your friends and family and the balance of what’s in news shifted away from the most important thing Facebook can do help us connect with each other.
- We, Facebook, feel the responsibility to make sure our services aren’t just fun to use, but also good for people’s well being. So we studied this trend carefully by looking at the academic research and doing our own research at the leading experts at Universities.
So, it shows people want to connect to people, basically is what he’s saying, we can feel more connected and less lonely and that correlates with law measures of happiness.
05:42 – Major changes to how we built Facebook and changing the goal
- Our product teams from folks are helping you find relevant content to help you have more meaningful social interactions. They did start going that direction this year.
- “Explore Feed” that they were testing and this is a newsfeed for only pages.
06:04 – What’s “Explore Feed”?
Earlier this year, Facebook was spotted testing a new type of News Feed – one that designed to help you discover content across the social network, beyond posts from friends and Pages you already follow. During tests, the feed was available through the Facebook app
- Janet did a Facebook Live about Facebook’s new “Explore Feed”
- They’re testing and I think it’s truly going to happen.
- The first changes you’ll see will be in the News Feed where you can expect to see more from your friends, family and groups.
- You’ll see less public content like posts from businesses brands and media and the public content you see more will be held by the same standard it should encourage meaningful interactions between people.
08:02 – Michael Stelzner
Owner of Social Media Examiner, they are on the top of the social media world probably more than anybody else and they do a social marketing world, too.
- Basically, he was saying is like the interaction underneath so, if you have a post and people are interacting with each other under the post. So, the more interactions you have in the post comments with each other going to really help boost that post in the newsfeed.
- Being engaged in conversation amongst themselves
- A link to your blog is not going to get any interaction so, forget about it!
10:02 – Vincenzo Landino
- Was on this show in our past podcast talking about his experience at Facebook and how he said by 2019 ninety percent of your entire feed was going to be a video.
15:30 – Janet’s Social Hacks
There are four different hacks:
1.Pay – If you’re doing a post, you should put three to five dollars behind that period.
- Janet explains it pretty clearly about the importance of how to boost your Facebook page
2. Live – Consistently show when your viewers know you’re going to be on it. You can even send a note to your e-mail list so everybody is aware that you are going live and you get more viewership engagement from it on your live.
- You need to have engagement on that live
- Have a cadence, have some consistency, set a time, let people know what are the topics going to be promoted in advance and get that information out.
3. The Groups – The group because of the interaction in a group
- Some groups are the amazing community and some a little more work and it would be great to be able to amplify it with some paid.
- Facebook Ad Hacks– people post people comment and it’s raising
- Janet will do a show on some of the Messenger results they had and might help that they have been doing lately.
- Messenger will grow and getting people in the messenger and for some reason, the algorithm gives that a higher relevancy in the news feeds.
We’re going to have to really change the way we use our pages and promote our pages!!
