- Janet followed Bonnie on Periscope back in the day and they brought it over onto Blab – a video platform that they could chat with each other
- What is a Blab – It was a video platform that they could chat with each other, it’s similar to the zoom platform but it was more of a social, party feel to it.
04:13 – Who is Bonnie Frank and what she does?
- She’s back on Periscope, on Facebook live and does Periscope every single day, at least once a day
- She has used six other live streaming platforms and she monetized all of them
- She makes money from live streaming
Her background is not business, she is a former teacher and current adjunct professor and it happens that she teaches a live-streaming course now at the University of Missouri.
- She only talks about four things, so anytime or anyone sees her, she will be talking about one, two, three or four things.
- Sometimes she sells directly from the platform, sometimes she will send them to an opt-in that she has whether it’s about live streaming or building your business.
Bonnie say’s.” it’s an incredible lead magnet and it’s an incredible form of relationship marketing love.’!

- Bonnie built her business literally from scratch with no money invested by the way and no training

Bonnie say’s that 80 % of the time I have at least bullet points things that I want to cover and I also have a very specific strategy of where that live stream is going in terms of where it’s going with my own marketing where it’s going with my own products programs and services that I’ll be offering down the line or that I’m currently offering.
Other 20 % I’ll get on because something was on my mind that I really wanted to tell my audience about I thought was really important or I was just thinking about something and I wanted to bring it up .

- She had a running list of live streams in my calendar, my phone, and journal on my desk
- She is constantly keeping a running list and literally go through the list
Janet is starting a once a week show having coffee with people so, basically social coffee time.
Janet say’s that.. “Putting it in a schedule, because you know we’re entrepreneurs and we don’t necessarily like to have to make that kind of commitment, but scheduling can help with growing your following. ”

There’s a lot of people, like solopreneurs,who just don’t pay attention to LinkedIn and that’s where all of their people are there
Everyone who has a business and everyone who is looking for business is on LinkedIn or should be.
Bonnie was really loyal to Be Live TV is just a wonderful platform
- It is so easy to use and there’s lots of different very low tech bells and whistles that they offer.
- It’s a wonderful thing to use if you don’t have any sort of tech background and you really want stuff to look good.
- She moved to ECAM live which offers many more bells and whistles and is HD
16:01 – The quality of ECAM and Be Live TV
The easiest thing in the world to use is be lived TV .
- Be Live TV – You click, you go, it’s done, it looks wonderful and it’s only for Facebook live
- ECAM it does look more professional, as well, so they’ve got loads and loads of things they continue to update their beta
16:39 – Zoom and Be Live TV
- Bonnie can do all of her coaching, all of her masterminds, all of that, all of my one-on-ones on Zoom but Zoom is a little bit pricier
A lot of Bonnie’s clients are solopreneurs and some of them are just starting out or they’re building up a side hustle besides working full time and so they might not be able to afford $40 – $60 dollars a month.
- There are many more choices and you can always just start from your phone to get live
- You don’t have anything to be fancy stuff, you probably have every single thing you need already
18:43 – Pieces of Advice with Terry on Live video
- You don’t have to be in the video, you can turn the camera around and shoot scenery and just talk, but you have to start
- Authenticity trump’s production value every single time, if you stutter stammer say something wrong, laugh, carry on, keep going people relate to that because it’s human.
- Don’t overthink it just do it (Nike) – have been the smartest company on the planet because of that single phrase
A word from Bonnie that “It’s perfectly okay to make mistakes”.
- Its all about providing the value for your listeners
21:21 – What is Periscope and what does it do?
Periscope is Twitter’s live-streaming video app, not to be confused with the recently launched Meerkat, also a live-streaming app. It allows you to watch and broadcast live video from all across the globe.
- When you go live, it gets blasted out to Twitter one time, unless you share that to other people during the scope of the broadcast.
- You can also go live straight from the Twitter platform, which is a new thing in the past six-eight months. That hashtag, go live, so that’s you going straight from the Twitter feeds.
- Go live is not going to appear in Periscope feed, go live is always going to appear on your Twitter feed.
- Periscope had a big dip in the amount of users and the amount of watchers as Blab came about, as Facebook Live came about, as all of these other platforms came, and some of them came and went, and Periscope took a big hit, but now people are returning back to Periscope and the fact remains that there are loads and loads of people who have never left, there are some very, very loyal fans that have never left.
*But the reason that you would go live straight from Twitter is that your audience is absolutely on your Twitter and not necessarily on your periscope.
Bonnie says that..”The vast majority of folks don’t know what Periscope is, they just know Facebook live because there’s billion people just live streaming on Facebook Live.”
- You need to know where your people are and that’s where you go, don’t expect them to jump through hoops to find you.
- “She does not multicast”- Bonnie said.. She does not have something like Wirecast or switchboard, she doesn’t have something like that currently that allows one broadcast to be syndicated out to several different places at once.
*The thing that everybody should be very, very careful about is multi casting when you don’t have a license to do that.
25:55 – Facebook Terms of Service
- In Facebook’s Terms of Service, it says clearly you cannot multicast you do not have the right to broadcast live on Facebook live and broadcast live on something else at the same time, it says you or don’t have the ability to do that.
*Howeve, if you go through something like switchboard or restream or Wirecast there’s lots of things out there, then it is them, they have the license you are paying for their license, they have the license to syndicate immediately.
28:20 – Bonnie’s advice on what platform to use in Live streaming & how would they do it to make it simple
- If you’ve never done it before it is far easier to navigate Facebook live from the beginning than it is to Periscope because there are more things happening at the same time on Periscope, the hearts going up and all sorts of things and everybody seeing the comments on Facebook live, you have to make sure to see the comments, so there are different ways to do that.
- She would tell people to go on Facebook live and she would also tell people to go on her website and grab her PDF about Seven Reasons They Should be live-streaming because there are many many reasons to live stream deleting immediately should not be on the list.
- Regardless of what you’re doing personally or professionally, you should have a reason for doing it a strategy for doing it because our time is valuable in that 24 hours goes faster and faster every day it seems.
